San Luis Central SLC #1282 (Patched, Boxcar Red, Reporting Marks Only)
The Atlas Master HO Scale Berwick 50' Boxcar is based on boxcars introduced in 1972 by Berwick Forge & Fabricating, of Berwick, Pennsylvania. The modern 50' sliding door boxcars featured their new corrugated non-terminating "sine-wave" ends. Initially sold to over 35 railroads across the nation, these boxcars were an unfortunate casualty of the economic recession of the late 1970s and Berwick was forced to stop production in 1982. However, these 50' cars were widely sold through a strong second hand market that continues even today. This model features accurate details, overhanging X-panel roof, non-terminating sine wave ends, full underbody with brake rigging details, wire grab irons, appropriate trucks with free-rolling blackened-metal wheelsets, fine paint, crisp lettering and AccuMate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers. The Berwick 50' Boxcar will look perfect in your late 1970s and later freight consists.
